Free-standing t ub enclosed within the shower pan. If it were mine, I would get satin etch or rain obscure glass, but other than that, gimme.
Expect more photos to rustle your jimmies coming soon!

But... but that's what tubs... get... ....

I like it excep t for the fact that the tub looks very uncomfortable . I could be wrong, but it doesn’t look like you’d want to lay down and relax in there.

This is a great idea and I wish it was more of a thing.

I am eight kinds of in to that.

Heh! I also love this look. I want to do the “wet room” in our bathroom. WE have enough space. I’m just not sure I’m going to win that one. She just wants rid of the tub altogether.

Have fun cleaning around that tub, although that’s probably for the hired help.

Nobody cleans up after themselves at this price bracket.
[belly laugh]

Yeah, that’s my only concern about that, cleaning around and especially behind that tub. Mildew city.

Must be that job creation I’ve been hearing so much about.

And you’ll need arms the diameter of a broomstick to fit around there, not to mention it’ll need a weekly cleaning, or more. No thanks. I’m over 10 years old, shower is fine with me.

Mrs. Humpkins and I went and looked at a place a couple weeks ago that had a ‘wet room’ set up like this, plain ‘ole window and everything. The fun part was the window was right below eye level open to a sidewalk. They didn’t even bother to put in privacy glass of any kind.

I lost some photos to a camera that got wet and corrupted the memory card... but on my last trip I took pics of both hotel bathrooms where we stayed, because the shower setups were ridiculous. The first one was less ridiculous and the picture survived:
There is... no door. At all. Yes, when you shower the water goes all over the floor. In particular, one of the little jets (?) had maybe a little obstruction in it so it pointed straight out that opening, while the rest of them were pointing mostly down.
The other one was worse, there was a glass wall only on one side of the shower, and absolutely nothing on the front. The floor was all tile, and it was sloped a bit in the shower toward the showerhead end, with a drain obviously, but... yes water went all over the floor outside of the shower. At least the floor was radiant-heated so it dried out pretty fast after a wipe down with a towel. Here’s a lovely illustration:

Often called the "euro screen" design. Terrible trend that only works for deep pans where the water could never get out. I would recommend a $10 curtain for that particular one shown.

haha, well this was in “Europe” in the sense that Iceland would rather be associated with Europe than North America. I can’t blame them.
In the first one, the vent didn’t work at all so the whole room was fogged up after one shower. That was a nice touch. Overnight the window was so covered in condensation that there was a puddle on the windowsill. We opened a window after that.

It’s all the same nowadays, if it’s close-in, normal people can’t touch it.

I look at that and all I can think about is maintenance and cleaning how, unless you are the POTUS or the Crown Prince of S
omewhere, all that glass is going to get scale on it and all the grout is going to get stained. I mean, it’s
spectacular
, but I wouldn’t want to take care of it.

I actually love doorless, curbless showers. Linear drains work great (or grate, heh heh) for them.

(Like I said.)

Neat design. I always like out of the box thinking like that.
![]() 10/31/2018 at 14:54 |

So how do you do window coverings with standard double hung windows?
Peak-a-boo!
![]() 10/31/2018 at 14:55 |

I mean, if you’re going to do it, the radiant tile floor is key. I still don’t love it.

As stated above, that's for the help to handle. Back in the window washing days I was doing fancy shower doors and surrounds daily

They’re nice when framed/built correctly . I have many many many horror stories of the opposite.

Yep. Obscured glass is highly underutilized.
![]() 10/31/2018 at 15:06 |

I don’t mind the design in principle, but I wonder if it would be drafty.

Ok this is weirdly similar to the bathroom we’re putting in.

This is basically the tub equivalent of those stupid bowl sinks and I now hate you for showing me that these exist

I do like that. That is very nice.

Having just paid to have a doorless, frameless shower built but is as of yet untested this statement fills me with dread.

I won’t lie... this was a factor when we did our bathroom remodel.
Me: That would look cool, but be a pain to clean.
SO
: Yeah but... we have a housekeeper now so...
Me: Fair point.

And with those OK housing prices, you can have enough left over for a cleaning service and a new bathroom.

Fun fact: My mum just called and told me that one of these glass walls exploded this afternoon in their newly (maybe 5 months ago) remodeled bathroom.
![]() 10/31/2018 at 17:07 |

We built almost exactly that into our last house. Except we used just one piece of fixed glass on the left...and the shower area was wider. It was a neat solution for a difficult space and it worked really well.

That’s a cool concept, I’ve never seen that before. Always separate tub and shower. I like it. Must show my Wife. We are preparing to have our master bath remodeled. Something like this could be really nice.

The frosted window film works great for bath windows. Lets in the light, but no visibility.
![]() 10/31/2018 at 20:15 |

I like it. I’m assuming the shower head(s?
) are not installed yet. I’d like to do something similar if I had a much larger house (and privacy to face the windows towards).

Not bad, but I bet it’ll be a pain in the butt to clean behind it.
